We believe in leading by example. G.A.P. Mentors serve as an established support system that encourages, nurtures, and protects our scholars as they navigate through their journey to success.

LaTaysha H. | Founder & Executive Director

LaTaysha Harmon is the Executive Director and Founder of G.A.P. Youth Mentoring Initiative, Inc. The Delaware native is a mother of three daughters and a grandmother of two. She has been actively involved in community advocacy, outreach, youth mentoring, financial literacy, strategic planning, and volunteer services for many years. She has served as a member of the New Castle Prevention Coalition, a youth advisor through the American Lung Association of Delaware - Tobacco Prevention Initiative KBG, and has provided underserved residents of West Center City with assistance through Interfaith Community Housing of Delaware, Inc. Through all of her efforts, LaTaysha is driven to impact the community. Her goal is to maintain advocacy in all areas of prevention including alcohol abuse, substance abuse, suicide prevention, and mental health. Her primary goal is to provide young ladies with an environment where they can channel their energy in a positive and productive manner. Through her creation of the G.A.P. Youth Mentoring Initiative, Inc. LaTaysha will ensure that youth in urban communities are empowered mentally and emotionally to become members of society. In her free time, you can find LaTaysha listening to true crime podcasts, taking road trips, spending time with family, and reading.

Wanda D. | Mentor

Wanda D. is a G.A.P. Youth Mentoring Initiative Mentor. The Maryland-born mentor is a wife, mother of three, grandmother of nine, and God-mother of 10. She relocated to Delaware at age 12 with her mother and siblings. She is a licensed cosmetologist who has had a love for hair since childhood. Being a stylist allows her to enhance and embrace one’s outer beauty. It also allows her to deposit positive affirmations into youth. Wanda chose to be a part of G.A.P. to help guide and nurture young girls who are the leaders of tomorrow. She believes that it takes a village to raise a child, and through G.A.P. she stands to be a part of many villages. She wants to let young girls know that they are not alone through teaching self-love, confidence, self-esteem, and being true to themselves. She seeks to provide a safe place to talk about concerns and topics of today. Wanda believes in giving back and paying it forward within her community! In her free time, you can find Wanda traveling, shopping, and spending time with her family; especially her grandchildren.

Tishae P. | Mentor

Tishae P. is a G.A.P. Youth Mentoring Initiative Mentor. She was born and raised in Delaware and is currently a Management Analyst for the State of Delaware. Through G.A.P. Tishae wants to mold, nurture, and guide young girls into young women. She remembers her time in a similar program called Best Friends and recalls how impactful it was for her to be nurtured and how that group helped guide her. In her free time, you can find Tishae traveling and taking pictures.

Ta'Leah H. | Mentor

Ta’Leaha H. is a G.A.P. Youth Mentoring Initiative Mentor. She is a certified phlebotomist and a certified Home-Health Aide and has served in the respective fields for 5 years. Ta’Leaha is a 2016 graduate of Concord High School. As a G.A.P. Alumna, Ta’Leaha wants to give to the girls what was given to her during her time in G.A.P. She wants to inspire the next generation to have confidence in themselves and grow up to be aspiring young ladies. In her free time, Ta’Leaha enjoys spending time with family and friends creating lifelong memories.

Alyssa A. | Mentor

Alyssa A. is a G.A.P. Youth Mentoring Initiative Mentor. She was born and raised in Delaware and is a Spelman College Graduate. She is currently the Communications and Multimedia Specialist for a Delaware School District. Alyssa became a G.A.P. mentor to inspire the next generation of leaders. Through mentoring, she wants all who participate in the program to know that they can achieve anything they put their mind to regardless of their background. Alyssa wants to celebrate the accomplishments of the girls, guide them through their challenges, and nurture them to be all that they can be. In her free time, you can find Alyssa hanging with friends and family, trying a new restaurant, or behind a camera taking pictures.

Linette M. | Mentor

Linette M. is a G.A.P. is a recent graduate from Wilmington University. She is a wife and mother of 3 beautiful school-age children. Member of the Prestigious Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, serving as VP of Service for the Alpha Zeta Kappa Chapter. She is an All Delaware State Academic Member 2019-2020. Currently serving as Membership Chair of Harlan Elementary School PTA. Member of Tabernacle Full Gospel Baptist Church. Her favorite pastime involves hanging with her family, watching movies and dancing to music. Her life experiences have ignited a lifetime passion for advocating and supporting the high risk vulnerable populations within her community. Her leadership style is through serving, embracing adversity and having clarity in her vision of empowering others to find their purpose in life. Which is evident by her volunteering at various non-profit organizations such as Sojourner’s Place, Woman of Courage, and Children and Families First. Her motto is “if her actions can inspire others to dream more, learn more, and become more”, then she is making a difference within her community.

Kimberly M. | Mentor

Kimberly M. is a G.A.P. Youth Initiative Mentor. She was born and raised in New Jersey and has lived in Delaware for the last 15 years. She is the proud mother of one son who is 22 years old. Kim has a 14 year background in child welfare and more than 10 years of experience in Project and and program management. She currently works as a Prevention Project Director for the Colorectal Cancer Alliance. She has an undergraduate degree from Hampton University and a graduate degree from the University of Phoenix Kimberly became involved with G.A.P. because of her gift of service, her passion for pouring into young people, and the need for young black girls to be seen and heard. She wants to share her passions of motivational speaking etiquette, and wisdom. She also wants every young lady to know that when they find out who they are there is nothing they can’t do! In her free time you will find Kimberly traveling the world or on an adventure hiking biking zip lining parasailing or trying new things.
